Dirt Platoon
Dirt Platoon is a hardcore, boom-bap–driven hip-hop duo from Baltimore, Maryland, consisting of biological brothers Raf Almighty and Snook Da Crook. Active since the late 1990s, Dirt Platoon is recognized as one of Baltimore’s longest-running underground hip-hop groups, earning respect for their longevity, consistency, and uncompromising sound. Their career history and catalog are documented on platforms such as Last.fm and Viberate.
Emerging from Baltimore’s underground scene, Dirt Platoon built their reputation on a rugged East Coast aesthetic—aggressive lyricism layered over gritty, sample-based production rooted in classic 1990s boom-bap. Their sound features hard drums, dark soul and jazz-influenced samples, and raw street narratives centered on survival, crime, and urban struggle. This authentic approach has helped them cultivate a dedicated following both in the United States and across European underground hip-hop circles.
Their body of work includes several respected independent releases, beginning with Deeper Than Dirt (2010) and the expanded Deeper Than Dirt (Reloaded), both released through Brake Fast Records and available on Bandcamp and Bandcamp (Reloaded). Subsequent albums such as War Face (2013) and Bare Face Robbery (2015) continued their gritty, militant style and received positive coverage from underground outlets including RapReviews.
